North York Moors

With over 1,400 miles of natural beauty, The North York Moors National Park is home to heather moorland, rolling hills, forests, ancient woodland, and dramatic coastline.

In late summer the moorland heather flowers bloom, transforming the landscape into a beautiful carpet of purple.

There are plenty of picturesque walks through the North York Moors National Park for you to soak up the scenery.  Whether you want a leisurely saunter or strenuous hike you’ll be able to enjoy the great outdoors and connect with nature. A steam train journey on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway is another great way to enjoy the beautiful countryside of the national park.  https://www.nymr.co.uk/

Guisborough Forest and Walkway

Guisborough Forest and walkway is home to many plants and animals in its woodland, wetlands and grassland – we’ve even spotted a kingfisher flying above a pond between the trees in the forest!

Activities in the forest include a sculpture trail, walkways, and bike trails.

Roseberry Topping

Roseberry Topping, a National Trust site, is an iconic local landmark that provides panoramic views for those who take the challenge to the top. The surrounding woodland puts on a spectacular display of spring bluebells and a sunset walk to the peak will provide breath-taking rewards.

The Cleveland Way

The Cleveland Way is a 109 mile National Trail walking route between Helmsley and Filey Brigg.  The route covers varied landscape across the North York Moors National Park, from heather moorland to captivating coastlines.

You can join the route from the hotel and enjoy part of the trail or stop off at the hotel to rest along the route.

Falling Foss Waterfall

Falling Foss is a beautiful little waterfall set in the heart of an ancient woodland.  If you fancy a woodland wander to discover this magical little corner of the North York Moors, there’s a 2 mile circular route that passes the falls, shallow waters to dip your toes, and a quaint tea room to enjoy a pot of tea and homemade cake.
